Raleigh, N.C. – March 14, 2018 The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina announced today it has received a donation of $50,000 from Greg Lindberg, founder and CEO of Eli Global, a privately owned federation of independent companies operating in 15 different sectors worldwide. This donation is in support of the Food Bank’s Stop Summer Hunger campaign, and will help the organization distribute 100,000 lbs. of fresh produce to children over the summer months. This is the first in a series of donations Lindberg has pledged to nutrition programs sponsored by the Food Bank.
The Food Bank’s Stop Summer Hunger campaign was created to supply healthy food to families in need during summer months when children have no access to free or reduced-cost school meals. The goal is to provide more fresh produce with the summer meals distributed through the Food Bank’s Kids Summer Meals program.
“We’ve been doing business in North Carolina for 25 years and plan to make many more contributions here,” said Lindberg. “I consider this an investment in our state’s future, and plan to continue supporting causes that improve the health and welfare of North Carolina’s children.”

The Food Bank reaches families in need through the Kids Summer Meals program and by working with local food pantries to supply more family-friendly meals. Having nutritious, produce-rich meals through the summer helps alleviate food insecurity in children, which can have a lasting negative impact on their overall health, school achievement and socialization. Giving families access to nutritious foods through the summer allows their children to continue to grow strong and return to school ready to learn in the fall, rather than falling further and further behind their peers.
